17 April 2019 1.00pm Zoom Educational Series: Paediatrics The word paediatric means “healer of children” and with close to 20% of the Australian population fitting into the under-18 demographic it is easy to recognise the increasing importance of paediatric health. As a holistic specialty, it involves care and sometimes education of the whole family. Babies and children are often unable to speak or make decisions for themselves; therefore guardianship, privacy and legal responsibility must always be considered. Paediatricians often have to treat the parents and family, rather than just the child. This Zoom meeting will briefly discuss childhood respiratory issues, behavioural disorders and treatment of illness in isolated situations. 7 May 2019 7.00pm First do no harm: Effective opioid use for improved patient outcomes Opioid prescribing is undergoing a revolution in recommendations and clinician attitude. The need to differentiate the two main classes of analgesics, conventional pure mu-opioids and atypical opioids, is imperative as they have different analgesic profiles and different serious adverse event rates. This webinar is designed to give the general practitioner a comprehensive overview of current recommended best practice in atypical opioid prescribing, conventional pure mu-opioid prescribing, opioid harm profile and opioid interactions with gabapentinoids and medicinal cannabinoids. This webinar will also outline how prescribing should be deployed within a practical multidisciplinary delivery of care model. Rockhampton - webcast Free Seqirus No
