Emerald Communities of Excellence Project

Emerald in Central Queensland is one of two communities in Australia to be selected and supported to form a Community of Excellence around digital health technologies. The population size, strong local clinical and digital leadership, as well as community support made Emerald ideal for this initiative. Emerald, along with Port Hedland in Western Australia will be an example to create a model for building digital health Communities of Excellence that can be replicated across other communities in Australia.  This project is a collaborative partnership between the Australian Digital Health Agency; Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN; Queensland Health; Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine; and Allied Health Professions Australia.

Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN are supporting this project to improve digital health outcomes in Emerald. Focusing on My Health Record , Secure Messaging and Telehealth , we work closely to engage with all healthcare providers, and the community. The PHN is supplying assistance with registration, deliver resources, and provide training. The PHN also host and collaborate with the local Community of Excellence Steering Committee, which forms a strong drive to lead this project.
