In this retreat we are going to explore how to develop characteristics or traits of effective leadership. We will build on these qualities, exploring how to develop sound leadership characteristics. As well as lectures there will be opportunity to develop communication skills in the form of small group workshops.

Assistance and guidelines will be delivered on how to give negative feedback and manage difficult situations in the role of a nurse leader (manager).  We will examine how to develop healthy boundaries which is linked to psychological wellbeing.

The issue of burnout will be examined and how it applies to the specific challenges of a nurse leader.

The retreats content is considered vital knowledge as managers and leaders face the unique challenges around them currently in the workplace. The exploration of key concepts will enhance  self-development which is linked to growth of knowledge and skills. This growth will enable the leader to provide support to colleagues and others in their workplace.

Often nurses are promoted to positions of leadership with little support on how to manage difficult situations. This can create feelings of inadequacy and increase in anxiety and stress. This unique retreat offers not just education but includes a supportive environment with caring and experienced facilitators to assist you explore these difficult topics.

The group will join together to learn practical strategies on how to work with very difficult people in their personal and professional life.

In addition to the conference program attendees will have the opportunity to explore a number of activities to assist them manage stress and prevent burnout. Each day attendees can join the facilitators on optional walks and activities in this beautiful seaside environment. We will explore different forms of stress management activities and topics that can only be unpacked in a supported learning environment.

This Nursing Retreat has been developed by two experienced facilitators who look forward to working with you in the natural environment of the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Other health care professionals (paramedics and others) are also very welcome to attend.

WHO IS THIS CONFERENCE FOR?

It also relates to the experienced leader who is interested in increasing their skills. The issue of workplace violence is real within our professional culture as evidenced by increasing levels of burnout and distress. The skills you will learn at the conference will be valuable to you whether you have experienced bullying or not.
