About this event:
We are pleased to offer tickets to this workshop at NO COST to participants. Your enrolment is proudly supported by the Maryborough Suicide Prevention Group and funded by the Central Queensland, Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast Primary Health Network (PHN), as part of the National Suicide Prevention Trial. Places on this workshop are usually $395pp.

UnitingCare Community/Lifeline is offering facilitator training to support the implementation of Peer Skills for young people.

This workshop will run:

  • Day 1 – 9am-4pm
  • Day 2 – 9am-3:30pm

What we cover in the Facilitator Training:

  • Content and processes of the Supportive Relationships for Young People 2-Day Workshop
  • Young/person-centred practice and empowerment
  • Effective peer work program implementation
  • The roles and responsibilities of the Peer Skills facilitator
  • Preparation and presentation of a Peer Skills activity

A facilitator manual is provided at the training and post training access to the Peer Skills members’ portal.

Self-selection Criteria for Facilitators:

  • Have a consistent group of young people that meet regularly for the program to be implemented for (e.g. school students, youth group, residential care, or similar)
  • Understanding of issues facing children and young people
  • Experience in group facilitation
  • Able to articulate understanding of person-centred practice
  • Basic understanding of the counselling process
  • Understanding of adolescent development

This is a specialised workshop and registrations are subject to final approval by the Lifeline Peer Skills team, who will assess suitability.
