Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN (The PHN) is an independent not-for-profit organisation funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health to improve the health outcomes of the region. It covers over 169,500 km2.

The PHN coordinates primary and preventative healthcare – that is, the healthcare that takes place outside of a hospital, such as General Practitioners (GP’s), allied health, chronic disease management, aged care, mental health and Indigenous health.

THE POSITION

Reporting to The Media and Communications Manager, The Media and Communications Officer will produce and disseminate publications for the organisation’s health planning activities.

This role is a 6 month contract working part time hours (0.8FTE) .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications 

  • Work between multiple PHN departments to collate health data and produce published (print and digital) material to target identified stakeholder groups.
  • Understand and evaluate health data and convert it into an engaging, accessible and meaningful narrative.
  • Work with the broader PHN communications team, as well as external stakeholders and suppliers, to develop and distribute communications material to meet the objectives of the project team and the organisation.

Project management 

  • Meet deadlines and deliverables
  • Liaise with external suppliers and internal PHN teams
  • Other business support activities as required

ESSENTIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in graphic design, communications, marketing, health promotion or similar
  • Experience in the compilation, interpretation, and communication of complex health, epidemiology or similar information and data will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and producing reports, marketing collateral and corporate publications
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with internal and external clients to develop and review information and reports to create accessible and meaningful communication resources aligned with the intent and direction of the organisation
  • Excellent writing and communications skills adaptable to a diverse range of audiences, accurate spelling and grammar, exceptional attention to detail
  • Understanding of the principles of health promotion and engagement, including the ability to write effectively for different audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and groups to ensure best collective outcomes and solutions
  • Is proactive, well organised, has excellent time management skills
