Novel coronavirus: face masks and additional resources

In Central Queensland, News, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay by PHN Communications

The Health Minister has indicated that the Department of Health is making the national stockpile of face masks available to general practices as needed. We do not yet have exact details about when they will be available, but we will advise you as soon as delivery dates are confirmed. Priority will be given to practices in bushfire-affected areas in NSW and Victoria.

CCQ will have a limited supply of masks to distribute to practices with a demonstrated need i.e.:

  • where there is no local supply available commercially; or
  • where there is no local supply available from a State or Territory government scheme; and
  • where practices have a population which may be more likely to have been exposed to the novel coronavirus; and/or
  • have unusual numbers of patients presenting with respiratory symptoms.

If your practice falls into these categories and you cannot source masks via the channels advised above, please contact Robb Major on info@ourphn.org.au.

For further information on the use of masks when seeing patients with suspected coronavirus, please see the RACGP information page.
