Volunteer StrokeSafe speakers share their journeys with community groups

In Central Queensland, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay by PHN Communications

In Australia, a stroke occurs every nine minutes – but what most people don’t know is that more than 80% of strokes can be prevented.

The Stroke Foundation has passionate volunteer StrokeSafe speakers available to present to community groups. Many have personal experience with stroke and are willing to share their challenging yet inspirational journey.

Community groups will learn:

  • What stroke is and how to recognise the signs of stroke
  • What to do if someone is having a stroke
  • How to prevent stroke in you or the people you love

Most presentations run for 30-45 minutes although can be tailored to meet individual needs. Talks are offered free to community groups thanks to the generous support of individuals and groups who have made donations to help cover costs.
